UMA ORIGINS is a comprehensive training for those called to support mothers in the tender and transformative journey through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the profound transition into parenthood.
Rooted in education, embodied practice, and decades of experience, UMA ORIGINS weaves together the essential disciplines of birth and postpartum doula education, prenatal and postnatal yoga methodology, nervous system regulation, and holistic maternal care, creating a comprehensive foundation.
Through evidence-based education, movement, meditation, community, and mentorship, you will refine your knowledge, presence, and confidence to support families through one of life’s most expansive rites of passage.

UMA doula referral listAs a weekly participant of the UMA ORIGINS virtual training you qualify to apply for the 6 Day in person intensive taking place in Los Angeles. This training is specific for those who have successfully completed the UMA ORIGINS 12 Week Virtual training. Space is limited.

Patti has supported mothers throughout the perinatal journey for more than 25 years. As a mother of two, yoga and meditation teacher, and birth doula, she brings a grounded, compassionate presence to pregnancy, birth, and the transition into motherhood. UMA ORIGINS is the culmination of her decades of experience, weaving timeless wisdom with practical tools to support both practitioners and mothers through this profound season of transformation.

No previous doula, birth, or yoga teaching experience is required to attend UMA Origins 12-Week Virtual training. This training is designed both for those beginning their path and for practitioners who want to deepen or expand their work in maternal care in a community setting.

Yes. Upon successful completion of the 12 Week training you will receive an UMA ORIGINS certificate of completion.

While the program provides a strong foundation for birth and postpartum doula work, it is also designed for yoga teachers, birth workers, educators, and others who feel called to support women and families through the perinatal journey.

Mentorship and community are an important part of UMA Origins. The training is designed to offer continued guidance, connection, and opportunities to deepen your knowledge as you begin integrating the work into your own practice. Upon completion of the 12 Week Virtual Training you will qualify to apply for the in person 6 Day Intensive in Los Angeles.
